A nutritious and delightful homemade dog food recipe made with ground turkey, quinoa, and fresh vegetables, perfect for your furry friend!

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 cup quinoa
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup diced carrots
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh parsley or thyme (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 cup of quinoa under cold water. In a saucepan, combine the rinsed quinoa and 2 cups of low-sodium broth. Bring it to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cover. Let it cook for about 15 minutes or until fluffy. Set aside.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, toss in the ground turkey, breaking it apart, and cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
  3. Incorporate 1 cup each of diced carrots and peas into the skillet. Stir and cook for another 5 minutes until veggies are tender.
  4. Fold the cooked quinoa into the turkey and vegetable mixture. Add freshly chopped parsley or thyme and stir until well combined.
  5. Cool completely before serving it to your furry friend. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.

Notes

You can replace turkey with lean beef or chicken and use dried herbs if fresh are unavailable. Always avoid giving dogs food containing excessive salt or harmful ingredients like garlic.
