  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 24 treats

Ingredients

  • 1 can tuna, drained
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup butter or olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley or dill
  • 1/2 cup chicken or vegetable broth (optional)

Instructions

  2. Combine the canned tuna, whole wheat flour, egg, and your choice of fat or broth in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add the chopped herbs, and gently fold them into the mixture.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth.
  5. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
  6. Place the cut-out treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden.
  8. Cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Make sure to drain the tuna well to avoid a soggy mixture. These treats can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week, or refrigerated for freshness.
