A nutritious and delicious homemade dog food recipe featuring wild-caught salmon and brown rice, perfect for your furry friend.

  • Total Time: 65 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown rice
  • 1 lb salmon (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup carrots (chopped)
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 cup spinach (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fish oil (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Start by cooking the brown rice. Use a 2:1 ratio of water to rice. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and let it simmer for about 40-50 minutes until it’s tender.
  2. While the rice is cooking, prepare the salmon. If you have fresh fillets, you can either bake them in the oven or pan-sear them on the stove, seasoning lightly with olive oil.
  3. When the salmon is nearly done, add in your selected vegetables and cook them until just tender.
  4. Mix the cooked salmon, brown rice, and vegetables together in a large bowl. If using, drizzle in fish oil and mix well.
  5. Finally, let everything cool before serving it to your pup.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days in the refrigerator or freeze portions for later.
