A nostalgic dish that brings the smoky flavors and joy of summer barbecues to your table.

  • Total Time: 134 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Chicken (breast or thighs)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Touch of cayenne to taste
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or cilantro)
  • Optional sides: coleslaw, baked beans, grilled corn on the cob

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine brown sugar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and apple cider vinegar. Mix until well blended.
  2. Place the chicken in a resealable bag and pour the marinade over it. Seal the bag and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and let the chicken come to room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  4. Place the chicken on the grill, cooking each side for 6-7 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  5. Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle fresh herbs over the chicken before serving.

Notes

Ensure the grill is clean to prevent sticking. Use tongs instead of a fork to turn the chicken to keep juices intact.
