Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless chicken (breast or thighs)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour)
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (parsley and basil)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium pot, bring the chicken and enough chicken broth to cover it to a simmer. Cook until the chicken is no longer pink (about 15-20 minutes).
- Once cooled, shred the chicken into small pieces.
- In a large mixing bowl, blend shredded chicken, whole wheat flour, one egg, and finely chopped fresh herbs. If the mixture feels too dry, add more chicken broth.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut out shapes using cookie cutters.
- Arrange the treats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow the treats to cool completely before serving.
Notes
Feel free to substitute turkey for chicken or use vegetable broth for a plant-based option. These treats freeze well for up to three months.
