Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless lamb shoulder or stew meat
- 1 cup green or brown lentils
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 stalks celery, diced
- 2 potatoes, diced
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
- 4 cups low-sodium vegetable or beef broth
- Oil for sautéing
Instructions
- Sauté the aromatics: In a large pot, heat a splash of oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic, diced onions, and your chosen herbs. Cook until fragrant.
- Brown the lamb: Add cubed lamb to the pot. Allow it to brown on all sides.
- Add vegetables and broth: Toss in diced carrots, celery, and potatoes. Pour in the broth and bring everything to a simmer.
- Stir in lentils: Once simmering, add rinsed lentils.
- Simmer to perfection: Reduce heat to low and cover. Let it simmer for about 60 minutes or until the lentils and lamb are tender.
- Final touches: Taste and adjust seasoning, keeping it dog-friendly.
- Serve warm: Allow it to cool before serving a portion to your pup.
