Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened (for glaze)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 1-2 tablespoons milk or cream (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then blend in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry mixture into the butter mix, alternating with the milk, until just combined; do not overmix.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon for the filling.
- Spread half of the batter into the prepared baking dish, sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top, then dollop the remaining batter over it. Swirl the batter with a knife.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes before drizzling the cream cheese glaze over it.
Notes
Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for the best results. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
