Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef (or turkey/chicken)
- 1 cup canned pumpkin (not pie filling)
- 1 cup chopped carrots (fresh or frozen)
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken or beef broth (or water)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup sweet potatoes (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare your ingredients: Gather all your ingredients, chop the carrots into small pieces, and have everything ready to go.
- Sauté the beef: In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula (about 5-7 minutes).
- Add vegetables: Toss in the chopped carrots and stir for a few minutes. If using frozen peas, add them at this stage.
- Incorporate pumpkin: Stir in the canned pumpkin and a splash of low-sodium broth.
- Adjust consistency: Add more broth to achieve your dog’s desired thickness.
- Cool and serve: Allow to simmer for 10 minutes, then cool and serve in your dog’s bowl.
Notes
Always avoid using onions and garlic, as they can be harmful to dogs. This recipe is flexible; feel free to swap ingredients as needed.
