Wholesome and flavorful Acorn Squash Dog Treats made with love for your furry friend.

  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 Acorn Squash
  • 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
  • 1 Egg (or unsweetened applesauce as substitute)
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut Oil (or olive oil)
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Pumpkin Puree (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Halve the acorn squash, scoop out the seeds, and place the halves face down on a baking sheet. Bake for about 30 to 40 minutes or until tender. Once cooled, scoop out the flesh and mash it in a bowl.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of mashed acorn squash, 1 cup of whole wheat flour, 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of melted coconut oil, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Mixed together, it should form a dough.
  3. Dust your working surface with flour and roll out the dough to about ½ inch thick. Use cookie cutters to shape the treats—ensure they are appropriately sized for your dog.
  4. Place the cut treats on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they’re dry and golden brown. Allow them to cool completely before giving them to your dog.
  5. Store the treats in an airtight container for up to a week or in the refrigerator for extended freshness.

Notes

Watch out for overbaking; treats should be firm and golden. Enjoy creating fun shapes with seasonal cookie cutters!
