- 2 medium sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed
- 1 cup unsalted peanut butter (free of xylitol)
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour (or oat/coconut flour for gluten-free)
- 1 large egg (or flaxseed egg for vegan option)
- Water as needed
- Optional: sprinkle of cinnamon, diced carrots or apples for added flavor
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the sweet potatoes by washing and piercing them, then bake until tender (about 45 minutes) or use steaming/microwaving methods.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, peanut butter, and egg until smooth.
- Slowly incorporate the flour until a workable dough forms; add water if too dry or more flour if too wet.
- Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Cut out treats using cookie cutters or a knife.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and firm.
- Cool completely before serving to your furry companion.
Notes
Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
