Ingredients
- ½ cup popcorn kernels
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup butter (1 stick)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Heat a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. Add a few popcorn kernels and cover the pot. Once they pop, add the remaining kernels, cover, and shake occasionally until popping slows down. Remove from heat.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in sugar and salt until the mixture bubbles and turns golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
- Remove the caramel from heat and carefully stir in the vanilla extract.
- Place the popped popcorn in a large bowl and drizzle the caramel over it. Stir gently to coat evenly.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes and enjoy. Optionally sprinkle with sea salt before serving.
Notes
Use a heavy-bottomed pot for even heating, and keep an eye on the caramel to avoid burning.
