Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup crushed hard candies (e.g., Jolly Ranchers, Lifesavers)

Instructions

  1. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg yolks and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the flour, stirring until the dough forms.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4 inch thick and use cookie cutters to cut shapes.
  7. Fill the center cutouts with crushed hard candy pieces.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes
