Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1 cup milk
- 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup milk (for icing)
Instructions
- Warm the milk until lukewarm. Combine yeast and 1 tablespoon sugar in a bowl and let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly. Stir in melted butter, egg, and remaining sugar. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-2 hours.
- Mix sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Roll dough into a 16×24 inch rectangle, spread butter, and sprinkle the cinnamon mixture.
- Roll tightly into a log, cut into 12 pieces, and place in a greased dish. Allow to rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Cool for 10 minutes.
- Whisk cream cheese, powdered sugar, and 1/4 cup milk until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls and decorate as desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding chopped nuts or raisins to the filling.
