Ingredients
- 1 pound spaghetti
- 6 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or to taste)
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about one cup of the pasta water before draining.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the thinly sliced garlic and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until golden and fragrant, being cautious not to burn it.
- Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic and toss everything together. If needed, add reserved pasta water a little at a time to help combine.
- Stir in red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper to taste. Toss well for an even coating.
- Remove from heat and fold in the chopped parsley. Serve hot, drizzled with more olive oil if desired.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using flavored olive oils or adding vegetables like spinach or mushrooms. Keep a careful eye on the garlic to avoid burning.
