Ingredients
- 1 can sardines (packed in water or olive oil)
- 1 cup whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (like parsley or dill)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic (fresh or powder)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Drain the sardines thoroughly and place them in a mixing bowl. Use a fork to gently mash them up until you achieve a spreadable consistency.
- Add the flour to the bowl, followed by the egg and chopped fresh herbs. If you are using garlic, add it here, too.
- Mix everything thoroughly until you have a dough-like consistency. You may need to add a bit more flour if the mixture seems too wet.
- Roll the dough out on a floured surface to about half an inch thick.
- Cut into fun shapes using cookie cutters, if desired.
- Place the treats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 20–25 minutes, or until they start to turn golden brown.
- Let them cool completely before giving them to your furry friend.
