Ingredients
- 1 cup unsweetened, natural peanut butter
- ½ cup water or chicken broth
- 1 large egg
- 1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- Good-quality cooked bacon, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a cake pan by greasing it lightly.
- Combine 1 cup of unsweetened peanut butter and ½ cup of water or chicken broth in a big mixing bowl until smooth.
- Add a large egg and mix well until fully incorporated.
- Mix 1 ½ cups of whole wheat flour and 1 teaspoon of baking powder in a separate bowl. Gradually fold this into the wet ingredients until just blended.
- Chop the bacon into small, bite-sized pieces and stir them gently into the mixture.
- Pour all the combined ingredients into your prepared cake pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let it cool completely.
- Top the cake with more peanut butter or additional bacon bits for extra fun if desired!
Notes
Always check that the peanut butter doesn’t contain xylitol, as it is toxic to dogs. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days, or freeze for longer storage.
