Ingredients
- 1 lb ground meat (beef, pork, or turkey)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1-2 eggs
- 3 cloves of minced garlic
- 1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 oz fresh mozzarella, cut into cubes
- 2 cups marinara sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, eggs, minced garlic, and chopped herbs. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Take a tablespoon of the meat mixture, flatten it in your palm, place a cubed mozzarella in the center, and wrap the meat around it to form a ball.
- Arrange meatballs on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- While meatballs bake, heat marinara sauce in a skillet over medium heat.
- Once meatballs are ready, gently add them to the sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Serve over pasta or in a sub and enjoy!
Notes
For lighter options, try using turkey or chicken instead of beef or pork. Pair with a fresh salad for a complete meal.
