Delicious, gooey meatballs stuffed with melted mozzarella cheese, baked to perfection and simmered in flavorful marinara sauce.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, pork, or turkey)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1-2 eggs
  • 3 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, eggs, minced garlic, and chopped herbs. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Take a tablespoon of the meat mixture, flatten it in your palm, place a cubed mozzarella in the center, and wrap the meat around it to form a ball.
  5. Arrange meatballs on the baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  6. While meatballs bake, heat marinara sauce in a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Once meatballs are ready, gently add them to the sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Serve over pasta or in a sub and enjoy!

Notes

For lighter options, try using turkey or chicken instead of beef or pork. Pair with a fresh salad for a complete meal.
