A refreshing and invigorating drink that combines bold black tea with the zesty brightness of fresh lemons.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 4-5 tea bags (Ceylon or Darjeeling)
  • 2 large lemons (juice and zest)
  • Sugar (to taste; raw sugar or honey also works)
  • 3 cups cold water
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
  2. Add 4-5 tea bags to the boiling water and steep for 5-7 minutes.
  3. While the tea is steeping, wash, zest, and juice the lemons.
  4. Once steeped, remove the tea from heat and stir in the sugar until completely dissolved.
  5. Add the lemon juice and zest to the tea, stirring well.
  6. Pour the mixture into a pitcher, dilute with 3 cups of cold water, and chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
  7. Serve over ice in tall glasses, garnished with fresh mint and a slice of lemon.

Notes

For a lower-calorie version, consider using monk fruit sweetener or agave syrup instead of sugar.
