Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 egg
- Fresh parsley or a pinch of rosemary (optional)
- Garlic (optional, use sparingly)
Instructions
- Begin by making the chicken broth. Pour your low-sodium chicken broth into a pot and let it simmer. If using raw chicken, cook it first, then shred it before adding it back to the pot.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, rolled oats, and egg. Mix until blended.
- Gradually incorporate the warm chicken broth, about half a cup at a time, until the dough comes together.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into fun shapes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the biscuit shapes on the baking sheet.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool in the oven with the door ajar for an extra crunch.
- Once cooled, store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
Notes
Ensure you use low-sodium chicken broth without onions or garlic for safety. Let biscuits cool completely before serving to avoid hurting your dog’s teeth.
