Ingredients
- 8 Hawaiian rolls
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup whole milk (or almond/oat milk)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter (for greasing skillet)
- Fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, or bananas)
- Powdered sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Prepare the Custard: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Slice the Rolls: Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half. Gently pull them apart if they are stuck together.
- Soak the Bread: Dip each roll half into the custard mixture, soaking for about 20-30 seconds on each side.
- Heat the Skillet: In a large skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Once bubbling, add the soaked rolls (cook in batches if necessary).
- Cook to Golden Perfection: Cook each slice for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and slightly crispy.
- Plate and Serve: Place cooked rolls on a plate, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and add fresh berries on top. Drizzle with maple syrup if desired.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, use almond or oat milk. Avoid overcrowding the skillet for best results.
