Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- Almond slices for decoration
- Red food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add in the vanilla and almond extracts, mixing well.
- Gradually incorporate the flour and baking powder until forming a soft dough.
- Take a small piece of dough and roll it into a finger shape, then pinch one end to form a knuckle.
- Use almond slices to create the fingernails, pressing them into the dough.
- Place the shaped cookies on a lined baking sheet, and bake for about 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.
- Once cooled, you can add a touch of red food coloring to give the appearance of “blood” for an extra spooky effect.
