Ingredients
- 2 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Sliced green onions, for serving
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
- Add sesame oil to the mixture.
- Place the chicken in a resealable bag or dish, pour the marinade over it, and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best results).
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade and discard the marinade. Place the chicken on the grill.
- Grill for 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Baste with extra marinade during grilling if desired.
- Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing and serve topped with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, use tamari instead of soy sauce. For a vegan version, substitute chicken with tofu or tempeh marinated in the same sauce.
