Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter (or plant-based butter for dairy-free)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (or light brown sugar for deeper sweetness)
- 1 egg (or flax egg for vegan)
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour blend)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (or almond extract for a twist)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Halloween sprinkles, candy eyes, and food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla, mixing until well combined.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to wet mixture.
- Chill dough for at least 30 minutes to make rolling easier.
- Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to ¼-inch thickness.
- Cut shapes using Halloween cookie cutters.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes until edges are just golden.
- Cool completely, then decorate with frosting, sprinkles, or melted chocolate.
Notes
For vibrant frosting, gel food coloring works better than liquid. Use parchment paper for easy cookie removal.
