Bright, tart, and a little sweet, homemade cranberry juice lets you control the sugar and enjoy pure cranberry flavor.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2–3/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Optional: 1 cinnamon stick or 2 slices fresh ginger for flavor
  • Extra water for diluting, if needed

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine cranberries and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, until berries burst.
  2. Pour mixture through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a bowl, pressing to extract all liquid. Discard solids.
  3. Return liquid to saucepan, stir in sugar (start with 1/2 cup, add more to taste). Heat just until dissolved.
  4. Let cool completely. Chill in the fridge, then serve over ice or dilute with extra water if too strong.

Notes

For unsweetened cranberry juice, skip the sugar. Add orange zest while simmering for a festive twist. Store in glass bottles for the freshest taste.
