- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Warm milk to about 110°F and stir in yeast and a pinch of sugar; let sit until frothy (about 10 minutes).
- Sift together flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Add melted butter, eggs, and yeast mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms, adding flour as needed.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Roll dough into a rectangle, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll tightly into a log, pinch to seal edges, and place seam-side down in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- For the custard bath, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, and sugar.
- Once the bread cools slightly, slice and dip pieces in custard mixture, placing back in the pan.
- Drizzle with glaze before serving.
Notes
Allow the dough to rise fully for best texture. Use fresh yeast for a better rise.
