A warm, comforting loaf of bread infused with cinnamon and topped with a sugary blend, reminiscent of donuts.

  • Total Time: 75 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (plus 2 tablespoons for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (or buttermilk for a richer flavor)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan generously to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined—don’t overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Mix the remaining granulated sugar with a pinch of cinnamon and sprinkle this blend generously over the top of your batter.
  7. Bake for approximately 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.

Notes

For a healthier option, substitute whole wheat flour or brown sugar. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for the best texture.
