Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar (plus 2 tablespoons for topping)
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk (or buttermilk for a richer flavor)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan generously to prevent sticking.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined—don’t overmix; a few lumps are okay.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Mix the remaining granulated sugar with a pinch of cinnamon and sprinkle this blend generously over the top of your batter.
- Bake for approximately 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
Notes
For a healthier option, substitute whole wheat flour or brown sugar. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for the best texture.
