Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless chicken (breast or thighs), finely chopped
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup fresh herbs (thym, parsley, or basil), chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients: Start by finely chopping your chicken into small morsels. If using herbs, chop them finely as well.
- Cook the garlic: Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add minced garlic and sauté for a minute until it’s fragrant but not browned.
- Combine chicken and oats: In a large bowl, mix the sautéed garlic, chopped chicken, oats, and herbs. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Bind with egg: Stir in the egg, ensuring everything is well coated. This mixture should hold together but still feel light and fluffy.
- Shape treats: Form the mixture into small patties or balls. You can shape them as you prefer, just remember to keep them uniform for even cooking.
- Sauté until golden: Return the skillet to the heat, adding a bit more oil if needed. Cook the treats for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Serve warm: Allow them to cool slightly before serving. These treats are best enjoyed fresh but can be heated up later too!
Notes
For a leaner option, ground turkey can be used instead of chicken. Quinoa or breadcrumbs can replace oats for those avoiding gluten.
