  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup aged cheddar or mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour (or oat/almond flour as a substitute)
  • 1 egg (or unsweetened applesauce as a substitute)
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken or vegetable broth (or plain water)
  • 1/4 cup fresh herbs (parsley, basil, or rosemary)

  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour and cheese.
  4. Add the egg and broth, mixing until a dough forms. Adjust consistency with more broth if needed.
  5. Flour your working surface and roll the dough to about ¼ inch thickness.
  6. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters or slice with a knife.
  7. Place cutouts on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and firm.

Notes

Consider sprinkling extra cheese on top before baking for added flavor. Store treats in an airtight container to maintain crunch.
