Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 chopped onion
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 2 cups cooked noodles or rice
- 1 cup shredded cheese (Cheddar or mozzarella)
- Handful of chopped fresh parsley
- Herbs (thyme and parsley)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in the chopped onion and sliced mushrooms. Cook until the mushrooms release their moisture and onions are tender.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for another minute.
- Add the cream of mushroom soup, milk, and chopped parsley. Mix until combined.
- In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer the beef mixture. Top with the cooked noodles or rice.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with extra herbs.
Notes
To keep the casserole moist, avoid overcooking the meat. You can prepare this dish in advance and refrigerate it before baking.
