- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup black cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Mix in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, black cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift out and cool completely on a wire rack. Cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing in chocolate chips or swirling caramel into the batter before baking.
