Homemade treats that combine beef and sweet potatoes for a flavorful and nutritious dog snack.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 20 chews

Ingredients

  • 1 cup ground beef (lean)
  • 1 cup sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup oats (rolled or quick)
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken or beef broth
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Boil or steam the sweet potatoes until tender, about 15 minutes, then mash them until smooth.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cooked sweet potatoes, ground beef, oats, broth, egg, and parsley. Mix until well combined.
  4. Scoop out small portions of the mixture and shape them into bite-sized chews.
  5. Place the chews on the baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  6. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until firm and golden.
  7. Allow to cool completely before serving. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

Customize the chews by adding garlic powder or turmeric for added benefits. Ensure sweet potatoes are thoroughly cooked for the best results.
